Why do the prices change?

Tuesday i began investigating upgrading my phones. I have a family plan with 5 phones all eligible for upgrades. 3 of the phones that i was interested in were  The Fuze a Quckfire and the Sony Erricson W760a. All  released in the last few days or so. My wife and i visited a local Corp store  and a local auth. reseller to see these phones and get prices.  All good.........
When we got home(Tuesday afternoon) i checked online (Premier site) again to get prices, show the kids(not children) the phones and finalize what phones to get. All the phones we were interested in were online and available. I then called ATT to get additional information and prices. Of course all the phones were available and at different prices some with rebates.
Wednesday i go check online and to order the phones, well one isnt even listed (The Fuze) and the Quickfire is now 50 dollars more with no rebates. So i call they tell me all phones are available but quote me different prices with no rebates stating "when you order from us you dont get rebates" now thats a direct quote.
So i want to know WHATS UP ????

Sorry if i wasnt clear. I know the prices are different in each channel. What i was really curious about is why ...... In each different channel.....  specifically when i call them up over the phone......are the prices different. One day rebates and X price the next day no rebate and Y price.
BTW todays online premier site (during the upgrade process) still does not list the FUZE but now includes the rebat for the Quickfire...

Different sales channels, different sales prices.  Seems pretty simple to me.

Premier sites are basically an online retailer site.

Their prices and availability of product is independent of what AT&T offers on their sites.

As with the AT&T site, nothing is guaranteed to be the same the next day on the site.

Once you decide on something, you need to strike while the iron's hot as you would have no visibility to stocking levels (or popularity) of a particular product.

Most likely supply and demand.

Whatever they have a surplus of, they give better pricing, rebates, etc., to move them. They make their profit on volume sales on these products.

Whatever they have only a few of, they price less competitively. They want to get as much as they can for these products.

AT&T customer service do not have the same prices as the online store.  I have had reps tell me to order a particular phone online cause I can get a better deal there than they could offer me.  This has been true for several years.

Also, some of the most popular phones with good prices with sell out fast, and will the out of stock online. When re-stocked the price won't necessarily be the same.

I would think the biggest reason for different prices is overhead they have to pay commission to ATT corp store reps so that is added to the cost and they dont have to pay commission on the website as the the dealers prices they have their own resources and ATT has no control over their prices.
