Returned AT&T equipment at UPS Store, AT&T says it was never received

Last day of service July 19. Returned equipment July 20. Received UPS return reference number, all SIX serial numbers accounted for. Watched UPS personnel put my equipment in a huge box full of other equipment.
Called AT&T last week when I received an email asking me to return the equipment.

AT&T said they had received my equipment and to ignore the emails; they are automated. Great. But after almost three weeks I have continued to receive emails. Today I called AT&T again and they said they had NOT received the equipment. I furnished them with the reference number and all the serial numbers. They said I would receive a bill but I should ignore it while they escalate my case.
I call BS.
I have a 730 credit rating! I warned the rep I would sue if this adversely affects my credit. I did everything I was supposed to do and I have proof of it. The problem lies with AT&T and UPS. 
At the end of the call the rep actually started her 'bring the customer back' script, telling me all the money they can save me. As if.
