Google Pixel 4XL unlocked unable to activate wifi calling APP0008

I visited a store and they have listed under non-ATT branded phone Google Pixel 4 XL to be compatible with WiFi calling, yet I'm getting APP0008 error.

Phone is unlocked from Best buy.

Sorry, but are you a bot ? Are you even reading this thread ?

I've already posted earlier in the thread the solution, it's not prepaid related, it's not eSIM related, it's just bad(or mean) AT&T handling/playing with IMEIs.

I have an eSIM on prepaid, I've changed my IMEI to an iPhone 8 one, everything works now.

This is the solution to the thread because AT&T does not know/want to whitelist unbranded Pixel 4 IMEIs for WiFi calling. Period.

Hello, @danielboca,

Thank you for reaching out on this. Press and hold the Power/Lock button, then select Restart. If this doesn't help, could you let us know if your Pixel is otherwise connecting with Wi-Fi but unable to use Wi-Fi Calling?

Look over the steps to set up Wi-Fi Calling for your Pixel. Are you receiving the error message during the set-up or when when you try to use it? Which plan is your device on?

Have a great week.

Did even full wipe factory reset, not helping. WiFi works just fine.

The problem is activation of wifiW Calling, itsian error returned by the ATT web service when trying to activate it.

Error code APP0008

Having the same issue. Error code EDS0008. Chatted online and wifi calling was added manually to the account. Restarted and then got error EDS0057. Added again, restarted and getting "sorry, try again later", or error EDS0008.

Not for me I gave up on android on ATT...  If my discount on the unlimited plans was not so good I would port out..  But its saving me money on TV since we use watch TV for content.

But yes ATT is screwing things up they should not be and its getting really old.

@danielboca

Did you ever get this working? I am running into the same issue and tech support over the phone is no help at all.

Nope. Still not working and tech support has been worthless. They just want to blame the phone.

Tech support kept telling me today that it won't work because it is not a ATT branded phone... I call

[word filter avoidance] on that since I know it works fine on other carriers (Verizon for sure). Not to mention I have here that other users have gotten it to work on non ATT branded pixels. It would be nice if we could get an ATT engineer on this forum to help us...

Nope, they were/are supposedly looking into it, but one more week passed and nothing.

It's sad that it seems they don't have any ideea with what's going om, or thr problem is being filtered on a lower level tier and doesn't reach the proper one.

Basically if you don't buy the phone from ATT, they don't care about you 🙂

That is actually a lie they tell you, if you go to a store, they will look on their tablet on the list with supported phones for wifi calling, you will see few of them in a category named "orher phones" or so, non-att, and among them you will see Google Pixel 4 and XL. I've seen it with my eyes.

Unfortunately customer support is horrible and they have no shame in lying to your face.

So there IS a list!   Why the heck doesn’t AT&T publish it?  (S if I don’t know)

I thought I found a list online the other day but I can't seem to find it. If I recall correctly it was on this forum and posted by an ATT employee. This is really frustrating I am trying to switch over from Verizon so I am "trialing" the service. If I can't get WiFi calling working that is a deal breaker. My Pixel 4 works with Verizon WiFi calling without issues.

@omandouglas   AT&T has a list of phones that will work with Wi-Fi calling that is several years old, has not been updated, and is old enough so that I don’t think it includes the pixel three and three XL which do work.   As far as I know (because it’s been requested many times) AT&T has not published a list of devices that will work on the network with VoLTE or WiFi calling.
They do make the usual general statement about iPhones and At&t androids, or run the imei.
